Why do recent reviews of games seem like they were paid?

Its almost as if the publishers or developers seem to bribe websites with money or early copies of their game so they can get an early review of a game as long as the review they leave is positive. There has to be some kind of reason behind this, and here is the reason: Better game score = More potential sales. It looks like some people are willing to pay reviewers in order to take the gamble in the hopes of creating a profit from their game. Here’s my thoughts on that: If your game was genuinely good, you wouldn’t need to stoop to such tactics to raise sales.
